Wesbank Outreach Programme
Animal Care
Our Wesbank Outreach Programme is one of the initiatives closest to our hearts. We believe that financial hardship should never prevent animals from receiving the care they deserve, and we are committed to supporting pet owners in the Wesbank community in any way we can.
Through this programme, we provide assistance with sterilisations, food support, and urgent veterinary care for animals whose families are struggling financially. Sadly, due to the challenging circumstances within the area, we are often faced with severe emergencies involving animals that have suffered traumatic injuries, including gunshot wounds, stab wounds, and other forms of abuse or neglect.
Despite these heartbreaking situations, we remain dedicated to giving these animals a fighting chance while supporting the people who love them. Our goal is not only to save lives, but also to educate, uplift, and strengthen the bond between families and their beloved pets. Every animal matters, and every act of kindness helps bring hope to both animals and the community we serve.
One Meal a Day
As part of our Wesbank Outreach Programme, our mission extends beyond caring for animals—we also care for the people who love them. Recognising the hardships faced by many families within the community, we provide one nutritious cooked meal each day to vulnerable children, the elderly, and those who are infirm and unable to care for themselves.
This initiative was born after we witnessed the desperate need for food within the community. We discovered that some children were eating the soft tinned food intended for dogs and cats simply because they had nothing else available. Seeing this heartbreaking reality, we recognised the urgent need to ensure that both the children and the most vulnerable members of the community had access to at least one proper meal each day.
Our programme is founded on the understanding that compassion knows no boundaries and that supporting both people and their pets helps create stronger, healthier communities. For many of our beneficiaries, this daily meal offers not only nourishment, but also hope, dignity, and the reassurance that they have not been forgotten.
At Grace Animal Sanctuary, we believe that kindness should reach every living being, and we are honoured to serve those most in need through this very special part of our outreach programme.
Our Shop - Gracefully Yours
To help fund our animal rescue efforts and the Wesbank Outreach Programme, we operate a community shop in Wesbank. The proceeds goes to our ACL Vet account. While every sale helps, the needs are far greater than the income generated, which is why we rely heavily on the generosity of our community.
If you have unwanted items lying around your home, we warmly encourage you to donate them to our shop. No donation is too big or too small, and the condition of the items is not a barrier—everything has the potential to make a difference. Clothing, household goods, furniture, toys, books, and miscellaneous items are all gratefully received. Donations can be dropped off at the farm, or, where possible, we will gladly arrange collection. By giving items you no longer need, you are helping us provide hope, care, and a second chance to both animals and people in need.
